As I write this, Rockford's current temperature is 10 degrees, with a "feels like," or windchill of 5 below zero.

Tonight, we're looking at some serious, potentially record-setting cold temperatures, too. The forecast says we're facing an overnight low temperature of 6 degrees, with a windchill significantly below that.

Luckily, for those facing this weather without proper protection from the cold and no place to go for shelter, the warming centers around our area are up and working.
