Kindness Rocks.....ever heard of them? Or have you found them out and about at places and wondered what they were?

Well, wonder no more!

Kindness or art rocks are rocks that have been painted with inspirational messages or artistic designs and then are hidden around town for others to find.

Doesn't matter where you hunt for them or even find in a random place, the rules are the same:

If you find a rock you can either keep it and replace it with a rock that you've painted or rehide the one you found so someone else can play along too. Just be sure to take a picture with the rock you've found so you can post it to Facebook so the artist knows their rock has been found.

Rocks can only be hidden outside and usually at parks or around local businesses.

My girls and I found this one outside the North Suburban Library.

Looks like it made its way to town all the way from the Quad Cities!

If you're wanting to look for these locally StatelineKids.com have put together a list of places where you can look.

This is a cool, fun, and low-cost activity you can do with your kids or grandkids.

If you're wanting to create your own kindness rock, the good news is you can find rocks just about anywhere!

Be sure to use acrylic paint or permanent markers to create your mini-masterpiece of incouragement, then seal it with a spray sealer or Mod Podge when finished.

Then take 'em out and hide them around the Stateline, just make sure to be respectful of other people's property.
