Pack up the car for some wholesome family fun.

I mean, what else are you going to do this weekend?

The resurgence of drive-ins due to the pandemic has been well documented.

Most of the movies have been some serious retreads. We're talking stuff from the 70s and 80s.

This weekend at the Midway Drive-In in Sterling, about an hour or so from Rockford, they're showing Beauty and The Beast and Iron Man.

That's right, it's a Disney double feature.

It's not the animated Beauty and the Beast. It's the updated one, you know, from 2017.

Beauty and the Beast is then followed by Iron Man. The movie that essentially kicked off the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

While Beauty and the Beast isn't my favorite, I'd personally rather watch the animated version any day over the live-action, but it's still better than watching flicks from the 80s.

On the other hand, getting a chance to see Iron Man on the big screen again, knowing what that movie did for Robert Downey Jr., Marvel, and the entire movie-going experience, that's pretty exciting.

Heads up, you have to buy tickets in advance at themidwaydrivein.net. There is also a food permit that you need to purchase. This allows you to bring in your own snacks.

Tickets are $9.50 for adults and $4 for kids 3-11.

The Midway Drive-In is located in Sterling at 91 Palmyra Road.
