It appears that Aaron Rodgers would like a little more attention so we should all pay attention while he's still around. This was fun 20 years ago when Brett Favre and the media did a will he/won't he retirement dance and it looks like we're about to get it all again with Rodgers.

This all starts with the touchy feely Instagram post Rodgers put out on Monday night. You can read all about it here.

There were three prevailing theories on why he would post something like this late on a Monday night.

  1. He is ready to announce what he's doing next.
  2. He's recently done some drugs in the forest and has a new light on life.
  3. He's trying to promote his regular Tuesday appearance on his buddy Pat McAfee's YouTube show.

It looks like 1 is still in the air, 2 is a strong possibility, and it definitely helped out the numbers for McAfee's show as everyone was talking about it on social media Tuesday afternoon.

Here's the long version of Rodgers' appearance on his friends show.

It's interesting but the part of the interview that possibly confirms the "spent time in the woods and did drugs" theory is when he spoke about a 12-day cleanse he did that was called a Panchakarma cleanse.

Aaron Rodgers On With Pat McAfee -  As I was texting with you yesterday, I just got out of a 12-day Panchakarma. Look that up. I know you did after we talked. It’s a cleanse that originated in India. It’s been going on for thousands of years, and it’s something I’ve done in the offseason.

So what is the Panchakarma cleanse? It's definitely a real thing.

According to the Wikipedia page it's a 5 step cleansing process that is actually from India and been around for quite awhile. The 5 main steps are:

  • Vaman: administration of emetic drugs that induce a severe spell of vomiting to clean the upper gut
  • Virechan: forced diarrhea that purges and cleanses the bowel
  • Basti: medicated enema used to cleanse the accumulated toxins through the colon
  • Nasya: nasal administration of medicated oil to cleanse the accumulated toxin
  • Raktamokshana: procedure done to cleanse the blood

It also adds some extra steps that sound interesting: According to an NBC 5 report, someone on the Panchakarma cleanse might also:

  • Three days of consuming Ghee (a form of clarified butter) until you evacuate at both ends
  • One day therapeutic vomiting
  • One day laxative therapy
  • Three days of herb drops in nose
  • Many days of enemas
  • Yoga and meditation throughout

There's no way I'm going to knock this before I try it. India's been doing things a lot longer than we have in the Western world. Rodgers knows way more about his body and physical health in general than I do, and I think if you've paid attention, our medical community might not have it all figured out.

However..... One day of therapeutic vomiting and MANY days of enemas sound like the trade off for a few toxins in your body might be worth it. It's Aaron's body and definitely his choice, but unless he passes for 6,000 yards next year, I'll stick with what I'm doing.

It's fair to say that there has been a difference in quality at the most important position in sports for these two historic franchises.
