Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rockford Going Away

YMCA of Rock River Valley will lose $73,000 in funding, bringing an end to Big Brother Big Sisters.

According to WIFR the money that usually comes from the United Way of Rock River Valley will not happen. There has been a decline in the money they usually receive, and the organization will provide such moneys to the Strong Neighborhoods projects.

So the funding that helps peer groups and adult mentors will no longer exist in Rockford, what a shame.

There are efforts the raise money so the YMCA can provide kids programs, just not Big Brothers Big Sisters.
