When I was a child, I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. I remember never eating at chain restaurants. We always ate at little local mom-and-pop places. They were all over. Many of them were just a short bike ride from my parents' house.

During the summer, my friends and I would hit up the nearby pizza joints because they had the best lunch deal. It was a giant pizza slice and a soda with free refills for just a couple of bucks. It was the ultimate meal deal.

Unfortunately, it's hard to find a restaurant that serves slices of pizza for lunch anymore. I sure miss it. I did some research and I found some highly recommended places in Illinois. By the way, for my money, Bacci is the place.
