You've been everywhere in the midwest. Maybe it's time for a trip a little off the beaten path.

I don't mean packing up your things and heading overseas in order to see something you probably never have before.

That's what's so wild about this spot. To me, it really is a hidden gem, a place so remote in Wisconsin, that people don't even consider it.

However, Passport Symphony's 15 Off-The-Beaten-Track Places in the USA You Didn't Know Existed wants to shine a big bright light on this group of islands.

So much so, that it was the first thing Passport Symphony mentioned, and from the sound of things, we should all start making plans to visit now.

Passport Symphony:

The Apostle Islands today is a federally protected area and home to some of the most breathtaking landscapes on our planet. One spectacular sight is the stratified sandstone cliffs on the shore that get encrusted in glittering icicles during the winter. Finally, one of the islands, Stockton Islands is also famous for the phenomenon of singing sands.

There are 22 different islands grouped in Lake Superior and while the Apostle Islands are a hotspot in the fall and winter for people looking to see some exotic fall and wintry stuff, this is a seemingly incredible spot in the summer too.

The top two spots according to Trip Advisor in the Apostle Islands are Big Bay State Park and Madeline Island.

AndrewfromMadison says "the views are stunning" and "Lake Superior is always beautiful."

When you get to the Apostle Islands you can either camp, stay at a hotel, or rent a home in nearby Bayfield, which on its own looks like a beautiful and wonderful stay.

To me, if you're looking for something a little less than ordinary, a trip to the Apostle Islands should be on the docket for the summer of 2022.
