I truly hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I feel it is my duty to inform you of what lies ahead for the Winter of 2020 in Rockford.

If you hate cold and snow, and you believe old wives tales and predictions from the Farmers' Almanac, be warned; you will not like what I am about to tell you.

It is highly likely that Winter is going to SUCK this year in Rockford, and by suck, I'm talking lots of snow and frigid temperatures.

Let's start with the Farmers' Almanac prediction for the Winter of 2020 for our area; "Frozen and Snowy":

There's also little clues from nature that a pretty brutal winter is ahead for Rockford. WTVO Chief Meteorologist Candice King posted this on Facebook yesterday, and although the Wooly Bear Caterpillar she has featured seems to point towards a milder winter, but the pictures submitted by her viewers tell a different tale:

This one doesn't look too bad...

Another in-betweener here..

Getting a little scarier now...

Then there's this one that has nothing to do with caterpillar predictions, but when I saw it I immediately thought, "oOh yeah, we're in trouble".  The viewer who submitted this picture said "The persimmon winter prediction says if you see a fork it will be a milder winter. If you see a spoon, you’ll be shoveling." See? We are in trouble.

What do the Wooly Bear Caterpillars look like in your neck of the woods? Snap a pic and share it with the class so we can continue our investigation into how bad this winter may be in Rockford.
