A New ‘Slow Southern-Style’ BBQ Joint To Open In Rockford This Spring

Let's face it, BBQ is the goods. It should be to the surprise to no one when a new place hopes to take the crown as best in town.

However, this place isn't your typical brick and mortar BBQ joint like the newly opened Smokey Bones on East State in Rockford.

You can only eat at this BBQ joint at the Rockford City Market when it officially kicks off on May 17. It's called Savor BBQ Co. and their Instagram says they've got "Slow Southern Style BBQ & More."

The RRStar says they specialize in:

Various styles of barbecue — pulled pork sandwiches, Texas and Memphis ribs, Alabama White and Nashville Hot chicken sandwiches and Carolina Baked Beans...Savor’s pulled pork sandwiches will be made-to-order from a slow-cooked whole hog.

 

When I lived in Kansas City, I instantly realized BBQ is life. While I'm sure the Forest City will never rival the reputation they have for smoked meats I'd like to be at City Market to try Savor BBQ Co. for myself. Because you never know, Rockford could be the next great BBQ destination.
