The state of Illinois has provided us with some great stuff! But when you really break things down, these three are just that dang important...But for all types of important reasons.

Where to start with this list, and is there one more important than another? These Illinois inventions are all over the map so lets get "slurping" first:

The Red Solo Cup - Good ole keg party cups...I mean the Red Solo Cup. Invented in Chicago in 1936, in the South Shore neighborhood of Chicago.

The Zipper - In 1890, Whitcomb L. Judson who was a mechanical engineer invented the zipper. Originally called the "clasp-locker," Whitcomb showed off the zipper/clasp-locker at the Chicago's World Fair, and people didn't buy it...No thank you!

Also did you know that Abe Lincoln is the only U.S. President to be issued a patent? This happened back in 1849 and it was something that helped buoy vessels over shallow water. Say what? It never was a manufactured product, sorry Mr. President.
