*Rugrats - Chuckie's character was actually inspired by Mark Mothersbaugh, the eccentric lead singer of the band Devo

* SpongeBob's name was going to be "SpongeBoy," but it was already trademarked. In Korea, he is known as "Square Square Sponge" while in Germany it is "SpongeBob SpongeHead."

* Ren & Stimpy - As TV's first homosexual cartoon couple, the show hinted at the relationship early on — such as having them live together, sleeping in the same bed and the very questionably simulated intercourse episode where Ren saws a log on Stimpy's back.
