I've finally put together my bucket list of what I must do this fall here in Rockford. I can already check off Apple Cider donuts and a trip to the apple orchard thanks to Captain Jack.

Rockford is after all the Forest City, which is full of scenic walks and drives to view the trees in all of their color changing glory.

Celebrate fall this year by enjoying all that Rockford has to offer.

    Anderson Japanese Gardens

    There is no better place to watch the leaves turn colors than at Anderson Japanese Gardens. It's one of the highest quality Japanese gardens in North America. On October 17, they do On Tap in the Garden, which features craft beers from local breweries.

    World War II Days

    World War II Days is September 25 - 27 at Midway Village Museum. It has elaborate battles complete with tanks and all. 1,200 actors (including our own Kevin McCarthy) representing soldiers in battle.

    Cider n' Cinnamon

    Cider n' Cinnamon is October 3 - 4 at the Edgebrook Shops. Over 70 exhibitors display art, crafts, vintage decor and more. Live music and awesome food too!

    Locktoberfest

    Locktoberfest runs from Oct. 3 - 31, every Saturday and Sunday. It is in Lockwood Park and is a fantastic time for the entire family. You can pick your own pumpkin, play games and have fun on carnival rides. Each weekend has a different theme, and that's enough for me to go every single weekend to see what's different!

    All Hallows' Eve

    The Midway Village Museum hosts trick-or-treating on October 24th. They can go through the Victorian Village collecting candy and also venture into the enchanted woods and tour scenes and meet characters from Robin Hood.

    Night Sounds

    Night Sounds is at the Burpee Museum of Natural History on October 23. You can trick-or-treat through the museum... just make sure to bring a flash light! It's not scary at all, and the kiddos will have a fantastic time.

    Pink Party 2015

    The Pink Party is the ultimate ladies night out! It's October 23 at Forest Ridge Event Center in Machesney Park. The event will benefit the Winnebago County chapter of Pink Heals, a nonprofit organization that raises awareness and funds for local families battling cancer. The party is full of bra-wearing firemen, auctions, wine tastings, shopping and more.

    Oktoberfest

    Mmmm... beer. The German Society of Rockford hosts Oktoberfest at Loves Park City Hall on October 2 - 3. Live music, German food and beer, along with wiener dog races makes this the perfect family friendly fall event.

    Hiking for Hounds

    At the beautiful Klehm Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, they celebrate our four legged furry friends on October 18. Bring your costumed canine friends to spend a day enjoying and exploring 155 acres of gardens and grounds.  At 1pm that day, dog owners are encouraged to enter their furry friends into a costume contest.

    Head of the Rock Regatta

    On October 11, the Rock River transforms into the site of a 3.2 mile rowing race. The race begins at Martin Park and finishes at the YMCA.
