If your daily commute includes the above stretch of Alpine road, you're going to want to take a different route.

First of all I'll address what's on your mind. No. I did not hire Banksy to make the picture in this post. That was done by yours truly using nothing but print screen and MS paint. I'd like to tell you that it took me less than 5 minutes to make but I don't want any #FakeNews in this post.

RegisterStar - Construction on Monday will start near the intersection of Alpine and Harlem roads... The nearly $4million third phase will reconstruct about half a mile of roadway, from Croydon Ave to Juniper Lane along Alpine, and a small portion in front of Schnucks on Harlem Road.

If you've driven any of this stretch in the last, oh say, 10 years you know how bad it's gotten. It's something you might have been avoiding already.

We're two years into repairing Alpine. It's felt like 5 but that's just me complaining. The new parts are pretty great though. The intersection of Windsor and Alpine is finally a lot safer and easier to navigate.

The one thing I am looking forward to after the construction is the addition of a left turn arrow going onto Harlem. I HATE intersections that don't allow a yielded left turn on green. So we have that going for us. Which is nice.

The article says weather pending it will all be done by mid-September. Care to take any bets on when it actually gets done? I think the Cubs will have another World Series before the last construction cone is picked up.

Here's to a detour-filled summer!
