Wisconsin’s Attorney General Is Open To Arming Teachers

In the aftermath of the school shooting in Parkland, Florida guns, gun control, conceal carry, etc.. have all become hot topics of discussion.

Several states including Wisconsin's Attorney General are open to arming their teachers in a preventive step to another school shooting.

WGN reports that the discussion of having armed teachers on campus "have taken place in Kentucky, Colorado, North Carolina and Alabama in recent days and Wisconsin’s attorney general said he’s open to the idea."

In fact, "Florida Republican Sen. Greg Steube said gun-free zones like schools are easy targets and has proposed allowing specially trained educators with military or law enforcement backgrounds to be armed."

Senator Steube continued with saying that “Our most valuable, most precious resources are our children. Why in the world are we going to put them in a circumstance where there is nobody that is armed and trained at any of our schools to be able to respond quickly to an active shooter situation?”

You know he has a valid point.

In many cases all teachers can do it try to lock and block there classroom doors and push the students back into a corner and hope and pray that a shooter doesn't find them. That doesn't sound proactive or very comforting in this life or death situation, does it?

The idea of arming teachers is thought to be a deterrent from shooters selecting their schools. Plus, it's a way for the teachers to defend and protect their students.

Many think this is a bad idea. The president of the American Federation of Teachers, Randi Weingarten, "called arming teachers “one of the worst ideas I have heard in a series of really, really, really bad ideas.”

Regardless of what side of the issue your on about guns, I believe the thing we can all agree on is that something must be done to protect our children from attacks like these happening.
