A group of people skipped out on a tab worth over $100 so the Wisconsin bar owners went to social media for help. Guess what happened...

Rule 1 in bar etiquette is to never leave without paying your tab. If you do, immediately go back and take care of it or do it first thing when they open the next day. Don't be like this group that racked up a $110 bar tab and then disappeared.

The Brass Tap, just south of Milwaukee, was not to happy about five customers that rang up a big tab and then bolted. The owners waited a little bit but none of them showed up to pay. That's when they went to Facebook with warning to the drink-and-dashers, completed with picture of them individuals from security cameras. They also filed a police report.

Can you blame them? What possible excuse can you use when the entire party leaves without covering even a portion of the tab? Outside of extreme cases there aren't any good enough. The Facebook status quickly spread throughout Facebook and caught the eye of a local TV station that used the story in an evening newscast, according to Journal Standard.

The original Facebook posted was shared over 1,000 times and it wasn't long before the offenders went back to the bar to pony up what was owed. The owners of The Brass Tap were glad paid and accepted their apologies.

“The owner didn’t want to pursue the charges anymore,” said Greenfield Police Officer David Vitek, who was at the bar when the four arrived. “They got their social media shaming, so…”

The Greenfield, WI bar acknowledges those that shared their message as well and their thoughts on the people they were searching for.

Charges were dropped and as for the pictures of the individuals that made a bad decision? The bar took down the pictures as promised. In the end a lesson was learned and the power of social media was proven once again.

“The owner didn’t want to pursue the charges anymore,” said Greenfield Police Officer David Vitek, who was at the bar when the four arrived. “They got their social media shaming, so…”
