.I remember when Washington's Mount St. Helens erupted in May 1981 and realizing that we don't really have a lot of that going on in the United States. We have our tornadoes, earthquakes, flooding and hurricanes. Volcanoes, not so much. For that, I'm glad. I have read lately about the possibility of a super volcano erupting in Yellowstone and that it would blow a third of the country to kingdom come. Or Canada.

Last week Japan's Mt. Ontake erupted, killing over thirty hikers, spreading a thick layer of ash and releasing toxic gases. Hikers caught the speed of the ash as it raced towards them.
