You should wash new clothes before wearing them.

I've been the topic of discussion for many of my friends and family, because of several reasons. I guess I have some issues.

It seems like the one that comes up the most is I must wash clothes before I wear them. It doesn't matter what it is. It could be something brand new or from a thrift store. It could be a shirt, pants, shorts, socks, or whatever. It has to be cleaned before I'll pull it on my body.

I would say, it's sort of a phobia.

It's funny, because I'm not afraid of germs or anything like that. I just don't like the feel of new clothes. They are stiff and rough. I also don't like the smell. New clothes always smell weird.

It's been a rule of mine, if you want me to wear a special shirt for an event. Give it to me a couple of days in advance, so I can wash it. Otherwise, I will not wear it.

I just can't do it, because it creeps me out.

People think I'm strange, but now I don't feel so weird.

According to today.com,

"There are certain infectious diseases that can be passed on through clothing."

It feels good that I'm not a freak, because I have to wash new clothes before I wear them.

You might want to change to my way now.

Is this taking things too far?

"It isn't enough to wash items once before wearing them. Maybe you should wash them twice, that's what the doctor does."

I think once is good enough.

How about you? Do you wash new clothes before wearing them?
