September is Suicide Awareness month. This Saturday you can walk to help those who are affected by it.

This Saturday, September 29th, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is hosting a Walk to Fight Suicide.

The Rockford Area Out of the Darkness Walk will be held at RVC's Starlight Theater from 10AM - 1PM.

Registration is free and open to the public. Online registration closes Friday at noon, but those who want to participate can register in person when check-in begins till the walk starts.

Donations for the Walk will be taken until December 31st.

They are currently at $20,603 of their $25,000 goal.

Thanks to the kindness of those who walk and/or donate the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is able to invest in new research, advocate for public policy, create educational programs, and support survivors of suicide loss.

Donors/Walkers have also helped the AFSP set a goal to reduce the annual suicide rate by 20% by 2025.
