Bryce Trevino is taking a peaceful stand on Veterans Day at Belvidere High School.

News spread like wildfire after the Belvidere School District 100 will have class in session on Veterans Day, November 11th.

The holiday, as far as I can remember, has always been celebrated. Students had the day off to remember those in their family and community who have served for our great nation. Because class will be in session, the annual Veterans Day Parade is also cancelled.

This has many veteran's and their family members upset, rightfully so.

Bryce Trevino, according to Rock Valley Publishing, is an alumni from Belvidere High School, Class of 2008. He served four years in the United States Marine Corps finishing as a Corporal. His older brother Branden Ramey, Class of 2001 was also a Marine. Sadly, Lance Corporal Branden Ramey was killed in 2004 while serving in Iraq.

Bryce Trevino posted on Facebook that he was calling all veterans and supporters to take a peaceful stand with him at Belvidere High School. It has been shared more than 300 times and has received an overwhelming response.

CALLING ON ALL VETERANS!! PLEASE LIKE AND SHARE ...

To all veterans and all supporters:

District 100 of Belvidere Illinois has decided to be disgraceful and disrespectful by NOT allowing the students Veterans day off for the first time in decades. This now means that the Veterans day parade is cancelled, the parade in which we HONOR all veterans. This is a day where we should be showing students to put all differences aside and come together as a community.
We cannot allow this type of action to continue in our community! TAKE A STAND and show your support against this decision! On the date of Wednesday November 11th we can take stand outside of the Belvidere High School along East Avenue. We will show the kids that we are here for them and proudly stand for the men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice and those continuing to serve! PEACEFUL VETERAN STAND DOWN WILL BEGIN AT 0700
Show that you are proud of your veterans and proud of your country!

This is no way, shape or form is a protest or a picketing line. This is for the community to come together to support veterans, the community and the students at Belvidere High School. Will you be joining them?
