It's the latest rage on late night T.V. Forget your Top 10 lists and Jaywalking segments, we're living in the time of week-long residencies for music acts on the late show circuit. Recently, the Foo Fighters spent a week on the The Late Show with David Letterman and it was announced that Metallica will spend the week of November 17 playing on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.

Jimmy Fallon is getting in the mix now with The Tonight Show host confirming that U2 will be his music guests for the same week as Metallica's stint with Ferguson.

I used to love watching the old Letterman show on NBC when Stevie Ray Vaughan or Warren Zevon would sit in as guest musicians or band leaders. Stevie was always cool, staying in the back out of the spotlight. However, the silhouette of his trademark cowboy hat and his perfectly toned guitar licks always gave him away.
