The Most Fun Par Three Golf Holes in our Area

About a month ago I took a listener poll to find the most fun Par 3 golf holes around. Nothing says summer like an afternoon on the links.

There are so many beautiful golf courses in the Rockford area. This community and surrounding communities prides itself on challenging, yet fun golf.

Rockford is known as a golf city. There are yearly tournaments that are highly regarded  across the country. The Rockford Pro-Am brings thousands of tourists and dollars to the area and pros such as Gary Player, Chi Chi Rodriguez, Jim Thorpe, Lee Trevino and LPGA vet Nancy Lopez have all participated.

For the Weekend Warriors, the Rockford area has you covered too. For the guys and gals that can love and hate golf all in a single afternoon, Northern Illinois has you covered.

I asked 96.7 The Eagle listeners to recommend the single most fun Par 3 golf holes around. The overwhelming response lead me to The Red Barn Golf Course located at 12379 Wagon Wheel Rd in Rockton. The Red Barn is loaded with challenging and fun Par 3 holes.

Owner Marianne Floberg Kaiser has been the PGA Professional at Red Barn since 1996. Marianne started in the PGA as an Assistant Golf Professional at Rockford Country Club from 1990-1996. Marianne earned her PGA membership in 1996 when she came to the Red Barn.

I went out to The Red Barn and met with Marianne. She gave me a tour of the course, the driving range, and showed me where she could actually help someone as bad at golf as me.

Hole number eight is a Par 3 that Marianne loves. Add in the fact that her husband likes to move the tee markers around, and we have a good one.

I might take Marianne up on her offer and have her teach me how to properly play golf.  Marianne swears she can even teach a guy like me how to play, I think I see a new summer video series.
