The Freeport to Rockford BMX Connection

BMX racing in Rockford is a big thing, and a lot of the top riders come from the west.

According to Freeport News Network some of the top BMX riders on the Rockford scene come from Freeport.

There was a time where BMX tracks were in the Freeport area, but now the riders have pedaled their way to Rockford and beyond. There is a strong BMX riding community in Rockford that now has some Freeport talent to deal with.

The Freeport BMX Stars are:

• Dustin Jacobs
• Troy Schleich
• Levi Lakota
• Joshua Flowers

I have personally known Troy Shleich since I was a kid. His passion for BMX riding even to this day is obvious. I can remember in grade school seeing Troy riding all over Freeport, throughout high school and beyond. He is passionate about his craft, and obviously pretty damn good as he is one of the top five BMX riders in our area. I have some great stories involving Troy over the years, such a great guy that simply loves life.
