Two Rockford McDonalds are bringing back a menu item that has been missing since 1998, for one day only.

This Saturday, October 7th, will mark the one day return of Szechuan Sauce. The sauce, which debuted 19 years ago, has been long gone, but will return for one day only at very select McDonalds locations.

The one day return is a promotional tie-in to go along with the introduction of McDonald's Buttermilk Crispy Chicken Tenders and their new “signature sauce” to go with them.

It is important to stress that only a handful of McDonald's locations in the Stateline will have the Szechuan Sauce:

  • 4623 State St, Rockford
  • 314 N. Mulford Rd, Rockford
  • 45 State Street, Beloit, WI
  • 2881 Milwaukee Rd. Beloit, WI

So what is Szechuan sauce? It is a hot and spicy sauce that McDonald's says will "tingle your palate." The chicken dipping sauce contains gluten-free tamari, spices, ginger, plum and sesame.

It should be noted that the sauce will be available at 2pm on October 7th, and you will have to go into the restaurant (NO DRIVE THRU) to get the Szechuan Sauce .
