What is the strangest roadside attraction in Illinois?

There are a couple important facts you need to know about the difference between Illinois and Chicago.

  1. There's Chicago and then there's the rest of Illinois.
  2. In Chicago, you don't dare put ketchup on a hot dog.

Knowing those things makes this Illinois top roadside attraction, even funnier.

MSN.com came up with a list, "The Strangest Roadside Attraction In Every State."

In Illinois, it's "The World's Largest Ketchup Bottle."

"This 170-foot catsup bottle is more than meets the eye. It's actually a working water tower in Collinsville and the center of a yearly festival in July."

Do you see the irony?

  1. It's located in Southern Illinois, nowhere near Chicago.
  2. Chicago is so anti-ketchup.

Just for fun, I took a look at Wisconsin.

It's "The World's Largest Fish."

"Right off US 63, you'll find the Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame... inside the world's largest fiberglass fish. It's as big as a Boeing 757, making it the largest thing in Hayward, Wisconsin."

Now, that makes sense.

Those are definitely a couple of worthy stops if you're ever in those areas.

One of these days, I'm going to take a road trip to just visit fun roadside attractions. They would make great social media posts.
