Story Developing: Illinois School On Lockdown This Morning

UPDATE: We received some more information on the lockdown. So, a man had barricaded himself in a home near the school and has taken a woman hostage. As of now the police are communicating with him to try to bring an end to the situation. Currently, negotiators are on the scene and the situation is still on-going.

It's always scary hearing things like this. According to NBCChicago.com, police were called at 8:30 this morning due to a domestic situation on the south side of Chicago in the Park manor neighborhood. The incident happened at the intersection of 71st street and South Rhodes avenue. Little is known at this time as the story develops.

The incident has turned into a barricade situation, the police are unsure if the suspect is armed. A nearby school, Park Manor elementary has been placed on a hard lockdown as well as an Infant and toddler center. At this time there are a lot of police officers on location including the SWAT team. We are currently waiting for updates and as soon as we know more we will keep you informed.
