Getting back to Halloween--it's about a week away. My mind is not the steel trap it once was, but I seem to remember not having hours as a kid. No official time frame anyhow. It's usually pretty cold at night by October 31, and a few hours of peddling for candy was enough. If you're looking to get the most coverage for your trick-or-treating pleasure, here are the hours to scare the neighbors throughout the stateline.

Halloween--Friday, October 31

  • Belvidere- 4 to 8 p.m.
  • Byron- 5 to 8 p.m.
  • Caledonia- 5 to 8 p.m.
  • Capron- 5 to 8 p.m.
  • Cherry Valley- 5 to 8 p.m.
  • Durand- 5 to 8 p.m.
  • Freeport- 5 to 7 p.m.
  • Loves Park- 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
  • Machesney Park- 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
  • Oregon- 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
  • Pecatonica- 5:30 to 8 p.m.
  • Poplar Grove- 4 to 7 p.m.
  • Rochelle- 5 to 8 p.m.
  • Rockford- 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
  • Rockton- 5 to 8 p.m.

  • Winnebago- 5 to 8 p.m.
And remember, you don't make friends handing out Necco Wafers. God I hate them.
