It was made official by NBC Sports Chicago on Wednesday when they announced a multi-year media rights agreement with not just the Blackhawks, but the Bulls and White Sox too.

Once it is approved by the NHL, NBA, and MLB the deal will start a new partnership for the 2019-2020 season.

NBC Sports Chicago will have all non-nationally televised games, that will include the first round of playoff coverage for both the Blackhawks and Bulls.

This means that fans will no longer be able to watch their Bull, Blackhawks, and Sox games on WGN or other regional networks.

For those who may listen to the games on the radio, WGN Radio will remain as the Blackhawks' flagship station.

What about the Chicago Cubs?

The Cubs plan on creating their own network after the 2019 season. So they will be leaving the NBC Sports platform altogether.

Chicago Blackhawks chairman Rocky Wirtz said that fans should be excited about the continued partnership with NBC Sports Chicago:

“In addition to raising the bar on our game day broadcasts, NBC Sports Chicago has elevated non-game day television coverage and evolved their digital and social media platforms into some of the most viewer-friendly in the industry.”

Never fear for you cable cord cutters, NBC Sports Chicago is also available with SlingTV and Hulu+Live TV.
