I received an email about Lisa and all that she does for the community that she loves. We read and see the saying, "To Serve and Protect". Lisa Leombruni serves her community with every chance she gets, I see her out at so many events that I questioned if she ever sleeps!

Here is the letter I received about Lisa and the amazing work she does for the community:

I've worked with Lisa since 2001 and have known her for over 20 years. She was a Rockford Police Officer for many years before she took time off to raise her oldest sons. In 2001, she came to the Rockford Park District and was hired on as a part time officer. She worked many events like Magic Waters and On The Waterfront. In 2003, she was hired full-time as a patrol officer. Pretty much the entire time she's been employed here she has been a staple in this community. Our chief back then recognized that and began letting her build her own community service program for the Rockford Park District and partnering with other local agencies, especially the Rockford Police. She is well know for singing the National Anthem at many events in this community. She's sang at the Ice Hogs games, local baseball games, Pink Heals events, Special Olympics events, and many more. Her passion is this community and being a police officer. Some of the main events she is involved in is supporting the Special Olympics, which includes, lunches, all ceremonies for the athletes, the Torch Run and I'm sure there's more. She is also an officer for the Northern Illinois Multi-Jurisdictional Honor Guard, who are present at such events as National Police Memorial Week breakfast and displays at Cherryvale Mall every May. They also respond to any fallen officer's funeral and give support to the family members of the fallen officers.  They also present colors at many events and sports games as well. Usually when Lisa sings, she is in full dress uniform. Lisa also partners and participates in the Youth Academy program put on by the Rockford Police Department. She works with the communities youth to help teach them to be safe from societal dangers as well as help them to know that the police are here to help. Lisa is also a board member of the Winnebago Park District. Most of her free time is spent with her family or being at programs throughout the community.

For the above and beyond work that you do for the Rockford community 96.7 The Eagle says congratulations to Lisa Leombruni, our September award winner.
