It's taking me a while to get used to the new late night TV line-up. Seth Meyers, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmell, the guy replacing Craig Ferguson. With the exception of Kimmell, I don't really care the latest crop of Carson wannabes. I always liked Ferguson, but he's quitting the Late Late Show at the end of this year and I'm assuming that I won't like the new guy.

Bet you think I forgot about Conan O'Brien? When he took over Letterman's slot on NBC after Dave jumped ship to CBS after the whole Tonight Show drama of the early '90s, I'd never heard of him. The only Conan I was aware of was the Barbarian, and I couldn't imagine another person being named Conan. In fact, those are still the only two I know with that name. I'm wandering now, let me focus.

This week on Conan's TBS show, he is featuring a week celebrating the music of George Harrison. A new Harrison retrospective titled, "The Apple Years 1968-1975" was released yesterday and Conan has some special guests to play the songs of the Quiet Beatle. Among the guests, George's son Dhani is performing tonight on the show and last night Paul Simon performed "Here Comes the Sun." Which reminded me...

There is a group of people who are classified as honorary cast members of Saturday Night Live. Over the years, Steve Martin, Alec Baldwin, Tom Hanks and John Goodman have filled that role with numerous appearances on the show, whether as hosts or just special guests. Another guy who was on frequently in the early days is singer Paul Simon. He did a good job too. Simon played the dual role of host/musical guest on a particularly funny show in 1976. Paul Simon singing "Still Crazy After All These Years" in a turkey costume. The Quarry Cereal parody commercial. There was also a lot of music played on that show too. Simon performed his songs and George Harrison played a couple of songs too. Then together they did one of the finest of Beatle songs, "Here Comes the Sun" along with the Simon and Garfunkel song "Homeward Bound." George lamented that he thought he should receive the $3000 Lorne Michaels offered previously to the Beatles if they reunited on the show. Very funny.
