Rockford’s Dean Lowry Named NFC Defensive Player of the Week

Congrats Dean on your outstanding week!

It was pretty cool getting the notification from the NFL app on my phone, then again seeing it on the Packers Facebook page. Green Bay Packers DE and Rockford-native Dean Lowry was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week!

It's no wonder why either. In last Sunday's overtime victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Lowry got a sack and returned a fumble 62 yards for a touchdown. It also marked his first Lambeau Leap. This was his second sack of the season and fourth over all in his two-year career with the Packers. Green Bay had drafted Lowry in the fourth round from Northwestern in 2016.

This is the first time in Lowry's career he's won a player of the week award. It's also a first for the Green Bay Packers defensive player this year.
