Beware because mosquitoes with be invading Rockford this summer.

I have friends that enjoy winter. They live for the snow and cold. Going skiing, snowmobiling, skating, and all of those other outdoor activities.

I'm not a big fan of winter. The weather sends me into hibernation. I was spoiled this past year. I can't really complain. I got a new big snowblower and I only used it once. I didn't even have to pull out my heavy coat and snow pants.

Now, what does it mean for the summer after such a mild winter? Are we in for a hot one? Not necessarily. We are going to get off easy temperature-wise. There is another issue we will have to face this year.

According to rrstar.com,

“The trends have shown when there is a mild winter, there is usually more mosquito activity.”

Stock up on repellent for the summer, because you are going to need it. The mosquitoes are coming.

Just plan ahead. If you are going to be spending time outside, especially at night. You might as well spray yourself down, before you go out.

Nothing can ruin a good time, like getting eaten alive by a bunch of mosquitoes. Last summer I went to an outdoor concert at Northerly Island in Chicago. I forgot bug spray and got all bitten up. It was horrible. I couldn't stop scratching my legs for days.

I think I much rather experience cold and snow, than getting attacked by mosquitoes.

Considered yourself warned.
