To celebrate their 30th anniversary, Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful plans to open a environmental education and recycling center here in Rockford.

As reported by wifr.com, KNIB are really following the 3 R's, reduce, reuse, recycle, by planning to renovate the former Continental Body Shop building on Hydraulic Rd as the location for the new environmental center and administrative offices. They hope this move will help make them more accessible to the community, along with making processes more efficient.

Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful Executive Director Pamela Osborne was quoted as saying:

Being here, our front door will be open, we'll be able to answer questions in person. People will be able to walk in our front door we'll be able to give tours and especially we're going to have the library and education center which is the biggest part of this,"

Contributions to the facility will be matched dollar for dollar by the Scott and Virginia Webster Foundation and the Perks Family Foundation. The environmental center is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
