Another day, another imposter phone scam.

On the heels of a recent phone scam by individuals claiming to work with the Illinois State Police, a new set of imposters have their sights set on ComEd customers.

ComEd says they've "seen an increase in reports of individuals calling ComEd customers and falsely claiming their electric service will be disconnected unless payment is made."

These scammers are reportedly telling customers to purchase a prepaid credit card. The customer is then told to call a different number in order to make the late payment with the newly purchased card. Don't do this, it's a scam.

If this happens to you, hang up immediately and contact the Illinois Attorney General's office at 1.800.386.5438 or report the issue online.
