The search for the next group of volunteers in the Rockford Reads Project has begun. This program is through the Rockford Public Schools and the library. More than 175 people last year spent at least an hour a week with a second-grade student to help improve their reading skills. The hope is to add even more volunteers for the next school year.

Training sessions for volunteers will be from 1-2 PM on January 24 and 6-7 PM on January 25 at the Rockford Public Library on 214 N. Church Street.

If you would like to begin the volunteer process pleas contact Parent and Community Engagement Coordinator Marcha Sisney at (815)-966-3271 or sisneym@rps205.com.

You will be expected to complete volunteer information and background check forms that will be mailed to you.
