Rock and Roll Recap for March 18 featuring Kurt Cobain, The Rolling Stones and more.

2014 - Jerry Cantrel of Alice in Chains celebrates his 48th birthday.

2001 - John Phillips, founder of the Mamas & The Papas, died of heart failure in L.A. at the age of 65.

1994 - The Rolling Stones announced Darryl Jones was going to be the replacement for Bill Wyman.

1994 - Four guns and 25 boxes of ammo were confiscated from Kurt Cobain after his wife, Courtney Love, called police fearing he was going to commit suicide. He did commit suicide about three weeks later.

1972 - Neil Young had his only solo number one, so far, with "Heart of Gold."

1965 - Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Bill Wyman were arrested for urinating on the wall of a gas station. They were denied access originally to the restroom.

One of my favorite Neil Young songs, "Heart of Gold." Watch as he fumbles in his pocket looking for his perfect harmonica, then plays his (at the time) new song.
