Is it just me or has it already kind of felt like a long winter?

I know winter hasn't officially kicked off yet, and still won't for another couple of weeks but this recent blast of cold air and snow got me feeling like I'm over it.

However, mother nature and the National Weather Service in Chicago have different ideas.

According to the National Weather Service "Temperatures will be 10 to 15 degrees below normal today and tomorrow, and potentially 20 to 25 degrees below normal next week."

But wait, there's more:

Wind chills will be in the teens and single digits, with wind chills near zero at night. In terms of precipitation, there is a chance for flurries or some light snow showers today and tonight, with accumulating snow appearing likely beginning Saturday afternoon through the overnight hours Sunday, then another round of snow later Sunday into early Monday."

In other words, stay home. Do your Christmas shopping online. Have it shipped directly to the person you bought the gift for. Bundle up. Stay indoors until at least March.

Maybe I'm just an alarmist but I always expect a fairly mild winter like the one we had last year to be followed up by something awful weather-wise.

That said, 2015-16 winter weather wasn't that bad. I have a feeling 2016-17 weather might be the worst.
