Today on the Brizz Record Bin I was in the mood for the late, great Warren Zevon. When I did college radio in the '80s, two of my favorite albums to go to were Sentimental Hygiene and Excitable Boy. Excitable Boy was his breakthrough album that was released in 1978. By 1987, Warren was a bit lost in the decade's musical landscape. However, he did put out a great album that year. Sentimental Hygiene featured great songs and was an impressive 'who's who' of rock 'n roll heavyweight guests. Neil Young, Don Henley, all four members of R.E.M., Flea (years before the Chili Peppers were a household name) and even Bob Dylan served as a backing musician playing harmonica on one song.

Sadly, we lost Warren in 2003 after a courageous fight against cancer. I remember when I came across Excitable Boy for the first time. It looked like a kid on the cover. But that deep voice and the twisted words of Warren made me a fan for life. He always did things his own way and if for no other reason, that's enough for me to admire the man.

Here is a great performance of the old Elvis Presley tune "Trouble" along with "Lawyers Guns and Money" on David Letterman's CBS show with the World's Most Dangerous Band in 1988.
