Randy Bachman will play a special concert at the world-famous Troubadour in West Hollywood on Saturday, and UCR will livestream five songs from the show, which begins at 9PM PT, on our Facebook page.

Bachman is presenting his Every Song Tells a Story: Songs of the Guess Who and Bachman-Turner Overdrive show, where he goes into details about the creation of some of his biggest hits, including "No Sugar Tonight," "Let It Ride," "American Woman" and "Taking Care of Business." Bachman released a CD and DVD of this production in 2002.

Interspersed throughout the concert will be selections from Bachman's most recent album, By George by Bachman, a collection of 13 songs written by George Harrison from throughout his career -- Beatles, solo, Traveling Wilburys -- that was released back in March.

The genesis for that project came a decade ago. “On Jukebox, the covers album I did with Burton Cummings back in 2007, I took ‘I’m Happy Just to Dance With You,’ which wasn’t written by George but written for him to sing, and put a whole new groove on it,” Bachman said.

“People already knew the lyrics, so I put it into a new musical context and it worked. So for this album, I figured I would take George’s songs, the ones everyone knows from the Beatles, and give them new grooves. I wanted the grooves, the tempo and arrangements to be so unfamiliar and different, but people would still know the song by the lyrics. I took the major keys and turned them into minors. When I played these arrangements, everybody was blown away. It was a whole new interpretation of a familiar song. I was quite excited about the prospect of reimagining George Harrison’s songs.”

Even though the set list for Saturday's show hasn't been determined yet, Bachman tells us that at least two of the five songs seen during the livestream will be Harrison tunes.
