This June is now the wettest June month in Illinois history.

It's become a silly joke between my sister-in-law Christy and the rest of the family. Every time she goes to the family's camper it rains. It's hilarious.

I feel bad that she is spending most of her time indoors at the beautiful camp ground instead of making s'mores on the open fire.

This may be comforting for her to know that Illinois has set a record with all of the rainfall.

With the rain we have experienced all month, it has become official. This June is the wettest June in all of Illinois history. The records go back to 1895. Furthermore, according to WIFR, the statewide average rainfall total for the month was 8.91 inches. That beats the previous record which was 8.27 inches in June of 1902.

It's safe to say that we will continue to smash the record this year as rain is expected in the last few days of June.

Christy, maybe you should wait to go camping until July.
