Racing to Return in Freeport?

Back in 2011 Freeport Raceway Park waved the checkered flag, a new group on race fans and investors want racing back in Freeport.

According to The Freeport Journal Standard the grassroots organization "Shifting Gears" are doing what they can to bring racing back to Freeport.

I had the honor of racing once at Freeport Raceway Park, dirt racing can be a little terrifying. Hitting a corner at a high rate of speed knowing you can flip over, will make you pee a little.

Shifting Gears has raised around $15,000 toward building a new racetrack. The group is waiting to find out results of a study that is using marketing data to determine IF a multi-use raceway can be built.

It would be great to see a new racetrack fully functional in Freeport. I will take a lot of money and a lot of work, best of luck to Shifting Gears.
