According to wifr.com, Roscoe Police are investigating the possible sighting of a panther. At around 11:30 Wednesday morning police respond to the call of a panther in the 5100 block of Rockton Road. The area was checked and no animal or  additional witnesses were found.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources has stated that a panther population hasn't inhabited the stateline in over 100 years. However the occasional cougar has been spotted in the area.
