PTSD Added to Illinois Medical Marijuana List
A new item has been added to the list of conditions and diseases to obtain Medical Marijuana in Illinois.
According to WREX a Cook County Judge demanded that the Department of Public Health's director add PTSD to the state of Illinois list within a 30 day window.
Fifteen states have PTSD on their Medical Marijuana list.
PTSD (Posttraumatic Stress Disorder) can occur after you have been through a traumatic event.
A traumatic event is something horrific that scares you. Something you see, hear about, or that happens to you. Examples are:
- Combat/Military Exposure
- Sexual or Physical Abuse
- Terrorist Attack
- Sexual or physical assault as a Child
- Serious Accidents, EMT, Police, Fire as well as be a passing witness
- Natural disasters, tornado, etc
I took part in a benefit last summer for EMT's that suffer from PTSD, hopefully this ruling can help in some relief for those that suffer.
