Durand, IL or "Dooorand" as my friend calls it, has made the news.

According to WREX 300 marijuana plants were seized in Durand by The Winnebago County Sheriff's Department. The weed was found growing in a thick wooded area.

The owner of the land claims that they had no idea that there were 300 pot plants growing on their property.

Quoting Deputy Chief Mike Schultz:

Often times, drug dealers, drug growers of marijuana plants will trespass onto farmer's property and put together a grow in the middle of the property to keep it hidden from the roadway

The street value of this many marijuana plants is one million dollars. With this large of a bust, I am really curious about the future of this state. In my opinion, it's only a matter of time before Illinois joins the list of states that legalizes pot. So what happens to the growers and dealers when this happens? Do you get cornfields that "mysteriously" become grow sights anymore? Will all the people that continue to move out of our state in financial crisis, move back?
