For 35 years The Metro in Wrigleyville has hosted some of the biggest rock acts ever. But with a venue that has lasted the test of time there always has to be some amazing stories.

According to Thrillist here are a few legendary happenings at The Metro in Chicago:

  • When The Metro opened in 1982, the neighborhood was filled with heroin and gangs
  • Downstairs at Smart Bar, the names was once Cool Runnings and was a Reggae Club
  • The Crowd Destroyed Nirvana's Drum set
  • Pearl Jam Singer Eddie Vedder Lived at the bar Next Door
  • Guns n' Roses Lived on the 4th Floor and Were Well Behaved
  • The First Show Ever was R.E.M.

I've seen a bunch of shows at The Metro over the years at The Metro and never had anything short of an amazing time. Thanks to owner Joe Shanahan for such an incredible venue.
