It's time to replace outdated squad cars for the patrol officers in Rockford.

The Rockford Police Department will be upgrading to SUVs in the near future.

According to rrstar.com,

"City Council on Monday agreed to replace 28 aging Rockford Police Department squad cars with new Ford SUVs valued at $1.2 million. Eleven unmarked police vehicles will also be replaced with new vehicles valued at $352,000."

With many old cars used by the police force, the cost of maintenance has started to go way up. That means it's time to get some new ones.

They will be getting Ford Police Interceptor Utility Vehicles which has a Ford Explorer body.

It will be nice for the officers because they will be more comfortable and reliable. Plus, they will be much better to drive in the winter.

I'm all for any advantage we can give our police department.
