National Foster Care Day in Rockford

Have you ever thought about becoming a Foster Parent?

It's easy to make fun of some of the "National Days" that we celebrate. It's National Taco Day, it's National Swedish Fish Day, it's National I'm So Strong Day, O.K. I get it America we celebrate everything.

How about celebrating the smile of a child. At the risk of sounding like Sally Struthers and getting super sap on you, May 2nd is National Foster Care Day. According to National   National Foster Care Day is dedicated to the over over 400,000 children in the U.S. foster care system. Here are some pretty alarming statistics about foster children:

• 250,00 children enter foster care every year
• Foster children suffer PTSD at  twice the rate of US war vets
• More than 70% of inmates incarcerated were at one point in the foster care system
