Mellany’s 5th Annual Dog Walk This Saturday in Rockton

This is year number three for me being a part of Mellany's Annual Dog Walk, in downtown Rockton.

This Saturday beginning at 11:30 in Settler's Park in downtown Rockton, it's the 5th Annual Mellany's Dog Walk to benefit Mercy Health Rockford Pet Therapy. Personally, this is my 3rd year participating and I couldn't be more excited.

Mellany McDuffa was a long-time employee of Mercy Hospital. After she passed away from ovarian cancer in 2012, a memorial fund was established in her name to fund the pet therapy program at Mercy. That is what this is all about, raising funds and awareness. Oh, and getting your furry friends out for some exercise!

The theme is "Hounds of the Honky Tonk", so if you would like to dress your dogs in western wear feel free! Last year there was a "disco" theme and there were pups playing the part for sure!

There will be a DJ (the award winner down the hall) basket raffles, prizes, treats, and refreshments for the dogs and all human types. All dogs attending will receive a coupon for a free puppy cone from DairyHaus Ice Cream. I will buy my own Black Tie Cheesecake.
