MLB has officially suspended Addison Russell after domestic violence abuse allegations.

Last week Addison Russell was placed on administrative leave after his ex-wife wrote a blog claiming he was abusive in their relationship.

This afternoon Major League Baseball officially suspended Addison Russell.

According to NBC 5 Chicago, Russell is now, 'suspended Russell for 40 games without pay,' ironically less than twenty four hours after the Cubs lost their chance at post season play.

MLB Commissioner Robert Manfred gave the following statement, 'My office has completed its investigation into the allegations that Addison Russell violated Major League Baseball’s Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy.'
