Madison Street in downtown Rockford is getting a face-lift by using old compact discs.

Does anyone have any CDs they are willing to part with? If so, your donation will go to helping beautify downtown Rockford's Madison Street.

A new art piece will need over 10,000 CDs to be completed. If you have some you can part with you can drop them off at The Rockford Area Arts Council all week during regular business hours. They are located at 713 East State St.

All of these old CDs will be going to good use according to WIFR.

The CDs are being painted by different school and girl scout associations, and are being tied to a chain link fence. When finished, it will look like trees highlighting all four seasons.

In my own opinion, I think it's a fantastic way to recycle an otherwise unwanted item and turn it into something beautiful.
