The waiting is the hardest part, thanks Tom Petty. As a Cubs fan the excitement of  the NLCS starting Saturday night is driving me crazy. What can we do until Saturday night to pass the time?

Being born and raised in Freeport, the parks without a doubt are the absolute best part of the town. About a decade ago a crazy idea turned into another fantastic addition to Read Park.  A short drive to Freeport can fill that Cubs void in your heart, with a visit to Little Cubs Field.

According to ABC7 Little Cubs Field is a Little League diamond for the little boys and girls to enjoy. Also for the parents, grandparents, and anyone else who wants enjoy a one-third sized Wrigley Field. This place has the specifics nailed down. The Ivy, the stadium seats, the bricks, the manual scoreboard in center, the Wrigley Field vibe in a smaller version.

I have spent some time at Little Cubs Field and it is amazing. As a Cubs fan all you can do is smile as you are driving up Empire and see the structure. A lot of volunteer hours went into Little Cubs Field, so great that the community of Freeport met at the pitchers mound for this project and absolutely pitched a perfect game.

So as you bite your nails and twiddle your thumbs preparing for Saturday nights game, take the short drive to Little Cubs Field in Freeport, and hum a few lines of "Go Cubs Go"!
